Following the fish
Fishing guides have to keep detailed records of where,when, and what
fish are doing everyday. Keeping track of fishing patterns and
locations is a must in our business.
Preparation
Before the day is started fishing guides must get everything ready to
have a good trip that day. This includes Cleaning the boat, Get Gas,
Charge Batteries, Catch Bait or restock tackle, Inspect boat,
motor,electronics,rods,reels,vehicles,food,and Drinks and remember
most of this stuff is done at 4:00a.m or earlier.
Tackle
All guides must have top notch equipment. In our business poor quality
items can make or break a fishing trip. This includes good line, high
end rods and quality reels. Also a average rod&reel combo for a guide
starts at around $200 and keep in mind we carry between 10-20 rods
for different techniques.
Gas, boat, fish finders, trolling motors, batteries, tackle,bait,cast nets,
lights,TAXES, Ice,food,drinks,oil,bait tank, are item that all add up to
an expensive day.
